It would be wonderful to be surrounded by loads of pets – at least I think so! However most of us start with one and then go from there. One of the most common questions I get is “should we get another pet?”.

There has been a lot of media attention in the last few years around dog attacks on young children and no doubt it touches a deep cord in all of us.

You wouldn’t know it’s summer with all the strange weather but the usual summer itching has begun as you would expect. This mobile vet has seen many itchy dogs and cats.

Rabbits are a popular companion pet, not only in houses with backyards, but also other places without access to outdoors. As a mobile vet I have been into several apartments with rabbits housed in enclosures running free around the home. With domestication and especially in these kinds of environments it is essential.

Little “BB” was finally reunited with her owner, Scott, who had thought that his cat had died a year earlier when she had gone missing. Scott also has a son who missed his friend terribly and was over the moon to find out that his beloved cat was still alive.

I had the pleasure recently of doing a vet house call to an amazing young female dog who had birthed her first litter of little pups. My first call to this dog, Melody, several months before was kind of a distress call as she had become incredibly anxious.

Bones are not all they cracked up to be. Over the years I have seen many dogs with damaged teeth from chewing on bones. Some of these teeth have required complete extraction which while an acceptable treatment, is not a desirable outcome.
