Meet Dr Ari Ende

Meet Dr Ari Ende

Dr Ari Ende leads VETaround with a clear focus on practical, high-standard veterinary care.

With over 20 years of experience in small animal medicine and surgery, his background spans private practice, emergency care, and hospital-based roles. This includes time at the University of Sydney Veterinary Teaching Hospital and experience within a specialist referral hospital environment.

This breadth of experience underpins a structured approach to care, where assessment, diagnosis, and treatment decisions are based on clinical findings rather than assumptions.

A Consistent Approach To Veterinary Care

Ari established VETaround to address a common issue he saw in practice.

Many pets do not cope well with clinic visits, particularly those that are anxious, older, or unwell. This can make proper assessment difficult and delay treatment.

By conducting consultations at home, he can assess pets in a more controlled, familiar environment. This allows for more accurate examination and better decision-making.

Where further care is required, this is supported by access to hospital-based services.

Experience That Supports Clinical Decisions

Ari’s experience covers a wide range of veterinary care, including general practice, emergency medicine, and ongoing case management.

He is a member of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists, Small Animal Medicine Chapter, and continues to engage in regular professional development.

This ensures that care is guided by current knowledge and applied in a practical, appropriate manner for each case.

Calm, Controlled Consultations

Ari conducts consultations with a calm and structured approach.

When needed, an additional team member assists to ensure your pet is handled safely and positioned appropriately during the examination. This allows the focus to remain on proper assessment rather than restraint.

This approach is particularly important for pets that are anxious or difficult to handle.

"I can't recommend VETaround highly enough! From Dr Ari's quick reply to the thorough, thoughtful consultation and treatment within our own home. I wish I'd contacted Ari years ago."

Practical Care Without Unnecessary Steps

Ari’s approach to treatment is focused on keeping care straightforward and continuous.

Where appropriate, he prescribes and dispenses medication during the consultation so treatment can begin immediately. This avoids unnecessary delays and reduces the need for additional handling for your pet.

Ongoing conditions are managed through regular follow-up, with adjustments made based on your pet’s response over time.

A Focus On Long-Term Care

Ari’s work often involves managing conditions that require ongoing care rather than one-off treatment.

This includes chronic disease, geriatric care, and more complex conditions that change over time. Consistent oversight allows patterns to be recognised and care to be adjusted as needed.

His focus is on maintaining stability, function, and quality of life over time.

Meet Elle Purdie

Elle Purdie supports VETaround as a veterinary nurse and practice manager, working closely alongside Ari during consultations and ongoing care.

She has been working in the veterinary industry since 2013, progressing from reception management through to nursing roles, including time as a senior nurse and in a specialist hospital setting. Her experience includes advanced patient care and clinical support in more complex cases.

Elle holds a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing and has completed both basic and advanced CPR training. She has a strong interest in oncology, palliative care, and end-of-life support, with a practical understanding of what is involved in managing these stages over time.

During consultations, Elle plays an important role in assisting with handling and patient care. This allows examinations and procedures to be carried out safely and calmly, particularly for pets that are anxious or difficult to manage.

In-Home Services

In-home care forms the foundation of how we treat and manage your pet’s health. Most conditions can be assessed, treated, and monitored in a familiar environment where pets are calmer and easier to handle. Available to residents of Sydney’s inner city, Inner West, Eastern Suburbs and the Lower North Shore.

First visit from Ari and Ellie and it went beyond all expectations. They were so genuinely interested in my two cats. Of course I couldn’t stop talking about them but they clearly were not bored. Did excellent health checks and vaccinations – was an absolute pleasure and I would totally recommend them to anybody. So fabulous having no stress of lugging…

Ari is the best vet ever. His home visits are incredible. Such a great service to not have to put your beloved pets in the stressful situation of a car. Or around sick pets in a waiting area. My cats LOVE HIM. Ollie my male cat NEVER comes out of hiding when visitors come over. With Ari, he not only came out, let him weigh him, have his check up done…

Frequently Asked Questions

Is an in-home vet experienced enough for complex cases?

Experience varies, but it is important to understand the vet’s background. Dr Ari has over 20 years of experience across private practice, emergency care, and hospital-based roles.

This allows conditions to be assessed properly at home, with further care arranged if more advanced treatment is required.

Will a home vet consultation be as thorough as a clinic visit?

At VETaround, a home consultation follows the same clinical process as an in-clinic consultation: assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning. The main difference is that it is carried out in your pet’s home environment.

This often allows for more accurate observation of behaviour and condition, particularly for anxious or older pets.

Can a home visit vet manage ongoing or chronic conditions?

Yes, many ongoing conditions can be managed through regular in-home consultations. This allows changes to be monitored over time and treatment adjusted as needed.

Where further investigation or treatment is required, this is arranged as part of a structured care plan.

Why would I choose a home vet instead of going to a clinic?

Home visits remove the stress of travel and unfamiliar environments, which can affect how pets behave during an examination. This can improve handling and allow for a more controlled assessment.

It also allows care to be delivered without unnecessary steps, particularly for pets that require regular monitoring.

Can medication be provided during a home consultation with a vet?

Yes, medication can often be prescribed and dispensed during the visit. This allows treatment to begin immediately without needing a separate pharmacy step.

Repeat prescriptions can also be arranged where appropriate to support ongoing care.
