For many pets, a veterinary visit is stressful before it even begins.
Travel, unfamiliar smells, other animals, and handling in a clinic environment can all increase anxiety. For some pets, this makes examination difficult. In others, it can lead to defensive or unpredictable behaviour.
In-home veterinary care changes that.
Seeing your pet in their own environment helps us remove many of the common triggers that cause stress. Most pets are noticeably calmer at home, which allows us to assess and treat them more effectively.
Anxiety in pets is often misunderstood.
What appears as aggression is usually a response to fear. Many pets labelled as “difficult” are reacting to an unfamiliar, overwhelming environment rather than to the examination itself.
Clinic visits can involve:
For some pets, this is enough to prevent a proper examination.
For anxious pets, behaviour is heavily influenced by their surroundings.
At home, there are fewer triggers. This allows your pet to settle more quickly and reduces defensive reactions during handling.
This allows a proper examination without escalating stress, a common limitation in a clinic setting.

Every consultation is supported by a two-person team where possible.
This means one person can focus on the examination, while the other assists with positioning, preparation, and handling where needed. You are not expected to restrain your pet.
This is particularly important for anxious or difficult animals. It allows us to maintain control without escalating stress, while you remain focused on your pet rather than managing them.
Some animals cannot be safely or realistically taken to a clinic.
This may be due to anxiety, mobility issues, or behavioural challenges. In these cases, in-home care is often the only practical way to provide proper veterinary attention.
We are experienced in working with these patients and adapting the consultation to suit their needs, while still maintaining a high standard of clinical care.
Being in the home does not limit the level of care provided.
Consultations still involve a full clinical assessment. Where required, we can carry out further testing and provide treatment during the visit.
Medications are supplied at the time of the consult, so there is no need to organise prescriptions elsewhere. This helps reduce disruption and maintain consistent care.
Anxious pet consultations are particularly suited to:
For these cases, the difference in behaviour and overall experience can be significant.

First visit from Ari and Ellie and it went beyond all expectations. They were so genuinely interested in my two cats. Of course I couldn’t stop talking about them but they clearly were not bored. Did excellent health checks and vaccinations – was an absolute pleasure and I would totally recommend them to anybody. So fabulous having no stress of lugging…
Elle’s exceptionally professional, warm, and helpful phone manner, together with Dr Ari’s prompt arrival, gentle approach with Hudson, and clear, thorough medical explanations and recommendations, immediately put my mind at ease. The high level of care and professionalism demonstrated confirmed that contacting VETaround was the right decision.
Ari is the best vet ever. His home visits are incredible. Such a great service to not have to put your beloved pets in the stressful situation of a car. Or around sick pets in a waiting area. My cats LOVE HIM. Ollie my male cat NEVER comes out of hiding when visitors come over. With Ari, he not only came out, let him weigh him, have his check up done…
I was very pleased with the ladies from VETaround Mobile vet. Professional, polite and very knowledgeable. Certainly eased my mind about my cat 🐈 would recommend them to anyone needing good veterinary care for their pet. We all know just how important our four legged friends are!
Animal aggression is linked to anxiety, especially in unfamiliar settings. In an anxious pet consultation, the home environment reduces many of the triggers that cause this behaviour. When we know ahead of time that a pet is prone to aggression or anxiety, we implement a two-person consult model, which allows safe handling without relying on the owner to restrain the pet.
Yes, many cats struggle with travel and clinic environments. An anxious pet consultation avoids transport altogether, which removes a major source of stress. This often results in a calmer cat and a more effective examination.
Yes. An anxious pet consultation still involves a full clinical assessment. Where needed, testing and treatment can be carried out during the visit. Medications can also be provided at the time, so care is not delayed.
Pets must be appropriately restrained prior to our arrival where there is any risk of aggression. During the appointment, however, you are not expected to restrain your pet. The consult is supported by a vet and an assisting team member, ensuring safe, controlled handling. This reduces stress for both you and your pet.
If your pet becomes distressed during travel, is difficult to handle in clinics, or avoids examinations altogether, an anxious pet consultation is worth considering. These consultations are designed for pets that do not cope well in standard veterinary settings.
VETaround is designed for pets that are difficult to manage in a clinic, and for owners who want a higher standard of care delivered properly at home. Every visit is carried out by a vet and nurse team, so you’re not left trying to hold your pet while decisions are being made.
